  • KEY STAGE THREE:  Years 7, 8 and 9

    All students in Key Stage 3 follow a curriculum that not only builds upon the work followed in the Primary School but also prepares students for study in Key Stage 4. The subjects offered are English Language, English Literature, French, Maths, Science, Geography, History, Social Studies, I.C.T., Islamic Studies/Bible or Citizenship Studies, Art and P.E.

    Muslims will study Islamic Studies. Children of other faiths will follow a programme in Religious Education or Citizenship Studies (Value Education).

    KEY STAGE FOUR:  Years 10 and 11    

    Students in Year 10 and 11, having followed a two-year course, take external examinations in at least 8 subjects. The examinations taken are General Certificates in Education (GCSE) and administered by the London Edexcel GCSE Board.

    All students follow the core subjects of English Language, English Literature, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Arabic, Islamic Studies/Bible or Citizenship Studies and French and supplement their programme with optional choices. The options are designed in a block formation which will differ each year according to student demand. Students may choose three subjects from: Art, Business Studies, Accountancy, Economics, Computer Studies, Geography, History and Physical Education.

    The school will provide two levels of secondary graduation:

    1. General Certificate of Secondary Education – issued by Edexcel upon the successful completion of seven (7) GCSE examinations in Year 11.
    2. A-level Qualification – issued by Edexcel upon the successful completion of two (2) or more A-level examinations in Year 13.

    The school will decide in due course based on consultation, demand and viability, the specific subjects that will be offered at A Level, but it is most likely that the list will include: Pure Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Economics, Business Studies, Accounting, Psychology and English.

    Post 16: Years 12 and 13 (A Level)

    The school will offer the following subjects at  A Level: Pure Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Economics, Business Studies, Accounting, Psychology and English. The examining board will be the London Edexcel GCE Board.
    There will be consultation with students to obtain views regarding the provision of additional subjects for A Level study. If there is sufficient demand students will be given this opportunity, for example to study History or Art.
